Definition of 'Mutual Fund Mondays'
Mutual Fund Mondays is a term coined in the last few months of 2009 and re-enforced in early 2010 when the stock market would close higher than its open more often than not on the first day of the week. This has been attributed to capital flows into the market on Mondays which have caused Mutual Funds to buy and buoy the market.
Aberrations such as this usually last for a short period and have the effect of "sucking in" investors but over the long term the data evens out and indicates that no day of the week is more likely to close up than any other day.
