Quadruple Witching Hour is from 3pm to 4pm EST on Quadruple Witching Day which is the third Friday of March, June, September, and December.
This is the last hour of trading for the (1) Index Futures, (2) Index Options, (3) Stock Options, and (4) Stock Futures that are expiring that month.
The market usually shows increased volatility on this day and especially during this hour as investors, traders and speculators unwind their positions before the contracts expire. Many traders will have already rolled over their contracts eight days earlier on Rollover Day.
